Mati
is 9 years old and in Class 2 of Shree Swoait Ganesh Primary
School. Mati’s father is a mason and her mother works
in the house, looking after Mati and her two brothers and
two sisters. Neither of her parents went to school but her
father can read and write. Mati is good at maths and studies
hard.
"The
Convention on the Rights of the Child
adopted by the United Nations in 1989 reaffirms
that all children have rights that must be respected,
protected and promoted. Article 28 states that
"All children have a right to education".
In some places around the world, this just does
not happen."
