Santa is 12 years
old and is in Class 2 of Shree Ganga Devi High School. That
means that he is one of the oldest in his class. He only started
school when he was 10 years old so he has a lot of catching
up to do. His father attended school for a few years but his
mother is illiterate.
"The
Convention on the Rights of the Child
adopted by the United Nations in 1989 reaffirms
that all children have rights that must be respected,
protected and promoted. Article 28 states that
"All children have a right to education".
In some places around the world, this just does
not happen."
