"What your sponsorship money does"

By sponsoring a child for one year the child receives access to a government school near to his or her home.

All the school entrance fees and examination fees are paid for one year. (All children sit annual exams in Nepal, regardless of their age.)

A winter uniform is provided consisting of trousers or skirt, school shirt, warm sweater, jacket and shoes.

A summer uniform is also provided consisting of raincoat and/or umbrella for the monsoon rain and suitable shoes or rain boots.

Necessary stationery is provided – books, pencils and pens which are not provided by the school.

Any additional text books are provided. Text books such as for English are not provided by the school and sometimes even the most
basic text books are at a premium, forcing the school to purchase new ones and passing on the cost to the students.

A school bag is provided.

Continuous monitoring by the Namaste Banepa Board of both the students and schools.

Annual assessment of the students progress.

Annual educational excursions for all Namaste Banepa students and connected teachers, headmasters, board members and supporters. This ensures the children, many of whom have never been outside their village or even travelled on a bus, see something of the outside world: valuable learning tool. The adults get the opportunity to interact and discuss the development of the children and how to improve on relevant educational aspects in a relaxed atmosphere.

Most importantly, your contribution means that a child will not only learn the basics but will have the opportunity to continue their schooling (drop out rates) and, with a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, have the chance to go on to further education.

As Nepal has a large unemployed and under-employed population, your contribution helps give our children a better chance of obtaining a job in the future. As Banepa is a farming community, it is also important that the community continues this tradition with pride. By educating future farmers, even subsistence farmers can contribute something positive to their family and the community.

Together lets break the circle of illiteracy and poverty.

"The Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations in 1989 reaffirms that all children have rights that must be respected, protected and promoted. Article 28 states that "All children have a right to education". In some places around the world, this just does not happen."
