Cable knit scarf — Melange Light Grey

About this cashmere cable knit scarf

A light grey cashmere scarf is about as versatile as a scarf can be, and this one has more to it than a flat grey. The melange yarn blends lighter and darker fibres, so every cable shows a soft, heathered texture with movement in it. It looks fresh with navy or white and gentle with blush pink.

The knit is 100% cashmere: a 28-count yarn made 6-ply, six strands wound into one, then worked into a full cable. The result is a thick, warm scarf that stretches a little and keeps its form. At 35 × 180 cm (15 × 72 in) there is length to loop it twice on a cold station platform, or to let it hang straight inside an open coat. Long tassels finish both ends. Made in Nepal.

Catherine bought this scarf in Rapture Rose rather than grey and wrote “I could not be happier”. She describes it as beautiful quality, very soft and warm, with a well-made fringe. In a pale grey the cable pattern shows up clearly, so the knit itself becomes the feature.

This light grey has a gentle heathered texture, with paler and darker fibres mixed through. It is a mid-light, cool grey, like a cloudy sky. It looks crisp with white and navy, and soft with blush pink or lilac. Black trousers and a tan bag also suit it. Wear it to the office, on long train journeys or for lazy weekends at home.
